cross stitch Drama (it happens, have a llama)

Okay, cross-stitchers may be seeing this post twice Yesterday I suffered from terrible biscornu-related trauma while working on my Sweetheart Tree "Cherry Blossom" biscornu. [for non-stitchers, a biscornu is a very oddly shaped pincushion and they have been increasing in popularity as cross-stitchers realise that they no longer have any wallspace and nor do their friends or neighbours. They are made out of two square panels but look round. Cue Charlie and the Chocolate Factory flashbacks - the book version, but there

are square sweets that look around] At Xmas I bought one for me and one for a close friend - I thought it was kind of cute. My mum got a custom one (called the Xmas Present of Mystery or XPoM)made by yours truly but that is another story. [It took me until 4pm on Christmas Eve. Every whip-stitch edge is covered in green beads and this is a beefy biscornu] [Now, we're going to get technical] Okay, the instructions are the typical "work from the centre out" approach[...]

Cross Stitch: Rose Lady finished.

Okay, I've not been very online lately, with variously branehate, contemplation and real life acts of devotion (don't ask, I can't tell) Anyways, here is the Rose Lady finished up for your delight and delication. Pattern by Joan Elliot, great fun to stitch, switched out horrible kit fabric for something nicer (and only marginally larger than the design) and beaded according to my taste. (bead phobics - I've probably doubled the bead quotient substituting some stitches, it would be entirely possible to do the opposite and pick out some nice shiny floss) The sweetheart tree biscournu has gone out of square *cries* linen is not my friend.

More Biscornu Madness

This is a short and unexciting post about my biscornu. Today has been light on the brane!hate and I got to do things [besides stitching] including cleaning the budgie out. This is my thrilling life of vicarious thrilling. Hopefully, the picture is clearer this time. Like with the plan, I did the outer border (the space dyed is Threadworx "Shortcake" and lickably pretty. Counting off that is way way easier than trying to do it from the centre or off the diamond. Hence, progress. *big grin* ETA: THE PART COMPLETED FLOWER IS IN THE WRONG PLACE BY ONE X-STITCH! *CRIES* This does for smug cross-stitch correction post, gnomesane? I'm finding some theraputic chocolate. Sorry, mum.

This jewelry made from reclaimed gun parts is a beautiful conversation piece. The intention of the GUN Reclamation Project is a statement about non-violence and transforming weapons into peaceful wearable art. I wonder if people who use and enjoy guns will want to wear them as well? [via ecouterre] More: Gunfight Cross Stitch Gun Purse Papercraft AK-47 Read this article | Comment on this article

How to remove an ink stain

I have a beautifully embroidered tablecloth. It has a wide boarder of tiny cross stitch and handmade lace edging that my mother made for me. It took her many years to make this. It has a real ink stain on it, because it has been there for many years I really don’t know how to remove it without damaging the cloth.
