Sony's PlayStation Network Now Offering HD Movie Rentals, Purchases

Sony announced this week that its PlayStation Network video delivery service is now offering HD movies for rent or purchase from all of the major movie studios, including 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. PlayStation 3 owners that have their device connected to the Internet can now rent or buy the following movies: 20th Century Fox – "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian", "Jennifer's Body" and "Fantastic Mr. Fox" (on March 23) Walt Disney Pictures – Disney Pixar's "Up", Jerry Bruckheimer's "G-Force" and Disney's "Earth" Paramount Pictures – "Star Trek", "Paranormal Activity" and "Zoolander" Sony Pictures – "This Is It", "2012", "District 9" and "Zombieland" Universal – "Inglourious Basterds", "Couples Retreat" and "Public Enemies" Warner Bros. Digital Distribution - "The Hangover", "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" and "The Wizard of Oz" "Securing high definition content from these studios is another significant milestone further validating PlayStation Network as a complete entertainment network in the home. PlayStation Network is the first and only service to deliver high definition home entertainment from all six major studios, directly to consumers for download," said Peter Dille, senior vice president, marketing and PlayStation Network, SCEA. "PlayStation Network continues to offer the most comprehensive catalog of HD movies to PlayStation Network members that realize the wide-ranging entertainment power of the PS3 system." Movie rental prices vary, but you can expect to pay $2.99 (SD) and $4.50 (HD). Movie purchase prices start at $9.99. Currently movies are only available in the United States, with plans to launch soon in the U.K., France, Germany, and Spain.

Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3-Inch LCD and EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

We bought the camera kit off of eBay with Squaretrade warranty for less then (...) using Bing Cashback so I got an outstanding price right off the bat. As far as the camera goes; it takes great pictures as far as I can tell. I'm not professional; I just wanted a camera that would get the shots of my 3 year old daughter and this does it pretty well. We put the pictures on my 55in lcd tv and blew them up to 200% and still didn't notice any pixelazation on the focus point. The camera controls are very easy (except for autofocus on the video); the speed of the camera is awesome (highly recommend the Sandisk Extreme 30mb/ s SD card); overall very satisfied with the camera. My only complaint is that it does not accept Compact Flash which are cheaper and capabale of higher write speeds. One other thing that I'm not really happy with is the video; but I bought this as a camera not a HD video camera. I turned off the auto focus because you could here the motors in the video; but I couldn't manually focus quick enough to keep up with the video. Again keep in mind; this is a camera; if you want an HD video camera look at the Sony HCX. I too was very hesitant on purchasing this camera because of all of the negative reviews. I just couldn't accept the fact that a company such as Nikon would sell "crap". I did a lot of research and read just about all of the reviews I could find and noticed that most of the reviews had two things in common. The pictures were "grainy and blurry". I took the advice of some of the reviewers and lowered the ISO settings to 80 before I used the camera. I am proud to say that I am exceedingly satisfied with my gorgeous Plum Nikon. Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom Lens with Built In Motor for Nikon Digital SLR

I bought the immediate predecessor to this lens and while it is a fair lens and takes moderately decent pictures (certainly cannot compare to the quality of real Nikkor lenses) I find the specs somewhat misleading. The lens is stated to be 18-200 but when I ran actual image comparisons against a real Nikkor 200mm lens, the Tamron comes up WAY short. I would estimate that the actual image shows this lenses to be roughly 160mm or so. I use it often, only because it is so handy to have a moderate wide angel to medium telephoto in one package, and for most occasions it does a fair job. But if I had the money, it would be Nikon all the way next time.
