Most wanted arrested for drunken driving
A man who appeared as Fond du Lac Countys most wanted last month was arrested Sunday for his third offense of drunken driving.
At 5:28 p.m., an officer spotted Johnny J. Johnson Jr., 29, driving on West Cotton Street near Doty Street, said Fond du Lac Police Department Capt. Steve Klein. Johnson eventually pulled into the driveway of a Follett Street home where officers attempted to arrest him.
They attempted to order Mr. Johnson out of the vehicle. He refused the officers commands, Klein said. The officers directed Johnson to the ground and he resisted.
Johnson allegedly threatened to fight the officers if they removed his handcuffs and refused to submit a blood sample to determine his level of intoxication, Klein said.
Klein said he expects Johnson to be charged with drunken driving and resisting and obstructing an officer. Johnson will be charged today with escape, the crime that led to a warrant.
On Feb. 24, 2009, Fond du Lac County Circuit Court Judge Robert Wirtz sentenced Johnson to the maximum nine months in jail with work release privileges for party to the crime of disorderly conduct (use of a dangerous weapon).
Johnson, on Nov. 29, 2008, was part of a group that used baseball bats and hammers to smash out the windows of a Cadillac parked in the driveway of a Third Street home. The vandalism occurred because Johnson got into a fight over a pool game, according to the criminal complaint.
At the time of sentencing, Assistant District Attorney Scot Mortier reported Johnson had 16 prior convictions including property damage, sexual assault and violent crimes.
