Today's Daily Word - Thursday, March 12, 2010

Let Go, Let God I let go of expectations and let God renew my life. Sometimes when a family member is late arriving home or something unexpected happens in my life, I erroneously imagine a worrisome outcome. As soon as I am aware of my thoughts, I wake up to faith and remember God is present with and within me and my loved ones. All is well. With my focus on the presence of God, I recover my sense of calm and balance. I clear my thoughts of everything except God, and I pray. As I relinquish control and settle into faith and love, I am restored to peace and joy. Faith fills my soul. I feel lighter and my heart is uplifted. I see my loved ones safe and whole. I release any worry and let God restore my inner peace. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.--Romans 15:13

Such testimonies are usually gathered when FTC agents believe the Commission will block or change a deal, WSU professor Stephen Calkins told Bloomberg....

Meditation May Boost Pain Tolerance

Practicing Zen meditation may help thicken certain brain regions and lessen your sensitivity to pain, according to a new study. For the study, researchers recruited 17 meditators and 18 non-meditators. To measure the participants' pain sensitivity, the researchers applied a heated plate to each individual's calf. In analyzing brain scans of the study members, they found that brain regions involved in regulating pain and emotion were significantly thicker in those who practiced meditation. In past research, scientists have found that meditation could help improve pain management for people with coping with chronic pain. In particular, meditation has been found to lessen pain and reduce stress in people dealing with conditions like low back pain and fibromyalgia. A number of other mind-body techniques (including tai chi, guided imagery, and yoga) may also benefit people struggling with chronic pain conditions.
